The "Fling" chocolate snack comes packaged in an attractive pink and silver wrapper, and contains 2 chocolate "fingers" (similar to how a Twix bar is packaged). Each finger is 80 calories and about 4.5g of fat. The manufacturer describes them as: "A delicate truffle on a subtle, crisp layer enrobed in shimmering chocolate."
As a young woman who constantly craves sweets, but usually does not purchase them because I worry about my waistline, I was delighted to see a new, "lighter" chocolate treat available. For years it seemed like 3 Musketeers bars were my only option, and I was ready for some variety and sophistication! You may have noticed that most of the main chocolate manufacturers have been coming out with "fancier" versions of their original products, and have priced them at a premium. Examples include M&M's line of flavored candies and Hershey's Cacao Reserve Line. This trend responds to a growing consumer demand for a chocolate experience that tastes richer than the average snickers bar, but is not quite as expensive as a trip to Godiva. A complimentary trend is that of including higher percentages of actual cacao in a bar's ingredient mix. Scientific studies have shown that pure chocolate actually offers many health benefits, and it is the milk, sugar, butter, and filler ingredients in chocolate products that contribute to obesity and other negative symptoms.
The Fling bar brands itself more as a fancy and low-guilt treat, rather than as an item that contains a high cacao percentage. It passed my personal taste test with flying colors! I loved being able to eat one finger and save the other one for later (which turned out to be about 10 minutes later, for me), and the crunchy yet airy texture felt very satisfying to bite into. The actual chocolate taste came across very richly, and I felt satisfied without regret when I was finished.
Currently, the Fling is only available in California retail locations, but anyone can purchase them online. The flavors are Milk Chocolate, Dark Chocolate, and Hazelnut, but only the milk chocolate is offered in a vending-machine friendly, two finger package (this could change with demand).

If you would like to include the "Fling" bar in your vending machine(s), I highly recommend choosing a chilled snack machine such as the AMS 39-640

. Clicking on any of these model names will bring you to its product page in our online shopping section.
